St. Philip School gives back!
Back in October, the
CSPA meeting included a very eye opening presentation about fundraising equity
across the Ottawa Catholic School Board.
Please check out the link to the presentation below:

This has been a topic
that has been brought up at St. Philip School Council meetings in the past and
it was voted and decided that this year we would allocate some of our
fundraising efforts towards a less fortunate school in our board. This decision was not taken lightly and we
wanted to make sure that our hard earned fundraising dollars were put to the
best possible use. Our principal, Ms. White has helped
to match us with two schools that have limited access to fundraising
dollars. These schools are not formally
identified as high needs and therefore don’t have access to the additional
resources that a high needs school would. As the demographic in communities
shift, so to do the needs of the schools.
The schools we have chosen are:
- St. John the Apostle School, 30 Costello Ave,
Nepean
- Our Lady of Peace School, 3877 Old
Richmond Rd, Nepean
These funds will be allocated towards STEM technology resources
similar to those that St. Philip students have access to and have been using to
enrich their learning this year. We will
donate $2500 to each school. We hope to
continue this partnership going forward and continue to support the learning
opportunities in these schools, if needed, in the future. This will first be voted and agreed upon by
future St. Philip School Councils.
Thank you to the St. Philip community for your amazing
support of our fundraising activities without which we would not have been able
to make this important donation.
Dana
Kean,
on behalf of the St. Philip School Council
