Upcoming Workshops
"Parenting Now: Achieving Success in Math and Beyond" will be held on the morning of Saturday, November 15th
at St. Patrick's High School (see poster). Join us for informative
sessions for parenting of children of all ages, free breakfast and
displays from community partners.
Keynote
speaker is Dr. Marian Small, speaking about "Supporting Your Child's
Math Learning". The keynote will be followed by a series of classroom
sessions. Topics include parenting, kindergarten, special education and
support for parents, technology and internet safety, mental health,
social skills and more. A 3 hour "safeTALK" training (Suicide
awareness) will also be offered (free) as part of this event. More
information is available on the CSPA website www.ottawacspa.ca.
Parenting: Teens and Sexuality: A Catholic Conversation with
Jason Evert for parents and teachers. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 7:00 - 8:30
pm at St. Paul High School. Jason offers communication techniques,
resources, statistics and a wealth of information to assist parents in
their task as the primary sex educators of their children.
Algonquin College Parent Information Session
Come learn about what college offers today's students. Thursday, November 6th, 6 PM at Algonquin. Tours of campus, speak with staff and students. Parents and students welcome!

There was some confusion as to what the roles and responsibilities
were for Alternative Parent Rep and Parent at Large. A clarification e-mail will be sent out
with a link to the Constitution to verify if parents wish to still be a
member or whether to just attend meetings when available and volunteer to
help with various initiatives.

The opening balance is $16,167.72, of which $16,000 was set aside in
June for School Yard Improvement.
Council will look into setting up a separate account to hold the
funds for the School Yard Improvement.

There is currently a decent number of iPads in the school. Netbooks are outdated and the batteries are
at the end of their life (need to be plugged in). Some Chromebooks have been purchased and
teachers would like Council’s support in purchasing additional ones.
