An Important Playground Announcement!
Wednesday, March 29,
2017
Dear Parents, Students and Teachers,
The St. Philip Parent Council and the St. Philip Yard
Improvement Committee are thrilled to announce that we have secured the
necessary funding and approval to make a deposit on a brand new play structure
for our Junior Play Yard. This community
project was made possible through partnership with the City of Ottawa, and the
Ottawa Catholic School Board along with school wide fundraising initiatives
driven by the St. Philip Parent Council.
We do not yet have a definite installment date for our new structure,
but hope to have it installed in early June.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our
wonderful community for their support of this year’s yard improvement
project. Your support of the following
fundraising initiatives made the purchase of the play structure possible this
year:
Ø
Welcome BBQ donation jar (September 2016)
Ø
The St. Philip Hot Lunch program
Ø
The 2nd annual St. Philip Parent Curling
bonspiel (October 2016)
Ø
The Little Caesar’s Pizza fundraiser (November
2016)
Ø
The Parent Trivia night at the Glen (March 2017)
We would especially like to thank our corporate sponsor Tony
Graham Toyota for their generous donation of $2,500 towards our structure. If you do business with Tony Graham Toyota,
please mention our appreciation of their donation.
Finally, if not for the work of the St. Philip Yard Committee who met
over the summer under the leadership of Erica Leveque, we would not have been
able to successfully apply and receive funding of $10,000 from the Ottawa Catholic
School Board and $7,500 in the form of a Community Partnership Minor Capital
Grant from the City of Ottawa. This
funding represented almost half of the required funds for the project so
needless to say, St. Philip School is so very lucky to have gotten this funding
towards our new play structure.
Please look forward to a grand opening celebration once the play
structure is installed and inspected by the school board. Further details will be shared once we get an
installation schedule.
Sincerely, and with deepest appreciation,
Dana Kean
On behalf of the St. Philip Yard Improvement Committee
