‘Gift of Reading’ is a St. Philip Catholic School Council initiative that supports the Learning Commons (Library). There is always an ongoing need to add quality reading material for the students to access on their visits. So, in lieu of or in addition to Christmas gifts, the staff of St. Philip would be most honored to have a donation made on their behalf to the Gift of Reading program.
Christmas greeting cards noting your donation (dollar amount not included) to the Gift of Reading are available for $2.50 each. Please return the order form with your child. Your payment should be made through School Cash Online (https://ocsb.schoolcashonline.com/).The card(s) will be sent home for you to sign and add your own greeting. Your child may then present this card to their teacher(s), EA, ECE, etc.
Please have order forms returned to school by December 8th. Fill out the information below completely, detach and send to school with your child.

Please note that this program is completely optional and all donations collected for Gift of Reading go directly toward purchasing books/materials for the Learning Commons.

St. Philip School Clothing Order

The St. Philip School Council has arranged for a school clothing order to take place in November. We haven't done a clothing order in a couple of years, have a new (cheaper) supplier and have passed along the savings to parents and teachers to keep it very affordable.   This clothing order is not being run as a big fundraiser, but a small amount of money will come back to the school council to support council initiatives this year.  Payment and ordering for school clothing will be done entirely using the school council online payment site [https://stphilip.hotlunches.net/] to minimize administration and avoid payments made through classroom teachers.  If you would like to purchase an item and are not able to use the online payment site, please contact me directly danakean@gmail.com

We will have a sizing kit available to check sizes during parent teacher interviews on Thursday November 2nd from 4:00-8:00.  The deadline for ordering will be Friday November 24th.  We hope to have items delivered back to us in time for Christmas if anyone would like to purchase gifts for their children.

Thanks as always for your support!

Call for volunteers with a flair for the arts!!!

FANTASTIC news out of the school council meeting tonight!!! Several of the teachers have agreed to take on a school play project this year!!! The play is in initial planning stages at this point so I don't have any specific details to share BUT I am reaching out to our very talented parent community to see if there are any passionate actors or actresses or anyone else willing to be involved in this project as volunteers to support our teacher team. For those that watched or were involved in the "We Are Monsters" play two years ago, you will remember what a fabulous opportunity this was for our kids and I hope you will consider helping out this year if you can. Please contact me to be part of this project. (danakean@gmail.com)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:)

New policy re: Lost and Found donations

Hello all,
Just wanted to share the new policy in regards to Lost and Found items at the school.   The Lost and Found bin is located at the front entrance of the school in a large Tupperware bin.  To deal with the large quantity of items that are left unclaimed, in the past, they have been donated to charity periodically throughout the year.  Going forward, there will be a one week notification given to parents before a Lost and Found donation is made.  Notification will be given via the Synervoice messaging system.  There is no set schedule for donations, once the box is full, the donation will be made.

If you have lost items, please encourage your child to visit the Lost and Found to reclaim them.

This policy was agreed upon and communicated by Mr. Kelly at tonight's school council meeting.

Thank you,
Dana Kean

Student survey results from the Welcome BBQ!

Sept. 19th 2017 Student Survey results

The results from our informal survey during the welcome BBQ are in and the students are voting overwhelmingly for a new shade structure for the school yard.  Second most voted by students were the engineering workshops for all of the classes.

We will take their inputs into consideration when doing our planning for this school year.  Thanks for participating!

The A,B,C,'s of ADHD: What Parents Need to Know
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurobiological disorder that affects 7% of children and 5% of adults. It can cause a wide variety of impairments in academic, family, and social functioning. It is estimated that 25% of children with ADHD have a learning disability. The goal of this workshop is to provide an overview of ADHD, its causes and symptoms, how it impacts on children's lives and treatment options.
